After graduating from St. Olaf College in Minnesota, Steve earned his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees at Fuller Theological Seminary. In 1979 Steve and his wife, Mary, responded to the Lord’s call to pastor a Foursquare Church in Oak Harbor, WA. During the mid 80s he taught Greek, Old Testament Prophets, Bible Interpretation and Preaching at L.I.F.E. Bible College (now Life Pacific University) in California. In 1987 the Schells pioneered a church in Tempe, Arizona before accepting the position of Senior Pastor of Northwest Church in Federal Way, WA in 1991. During his 28 years pastoring Northwest Church, Steve served on the Board of Directors of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel and has chaired the Education, Governance and Doctrine committees. Additionally, Steve’s sermons were heard on the daily radio broadcast Life Lessons with Dr. Steve Schell which aired on stations across the U.S. for 20 years. Steve is currently President of Pastoral Resource Ministry, a non-profit organization committed to providing books, classes and materials to pastors and Bible study leaders to help them teach the Word of God effectively.
